Our Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Holy Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We covenant, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church body, in the knowledge of our Lord, in holiness, in unity, and in comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, faith, and leadership; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the expenses of the church body, and to its expression of the fulfillment of the Great Commission to all nations.

We also covenant to maintain family and private devotions; to educate our children with God's word and by Christian example; to seek the salvation of our families and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our covenants, and exemplary in our conduct; to avoid gossiping, degrading words, and profane communication; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.

We further covenant to watch over one another in love; to remember each other in prayer; to comfort and aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate empathetic relationships with one another in feeling and courtesy of speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready to forgive and be reconciled without delay; and to be mindful of the example of Christ Jesus.

We moreover covenant to cultivate our sensitivity to the person of the Holy Spirit through obedience to God's will; to be receptive to the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit as they are set in the context of God's love; to express, with all decency and orderliness, the joy of our salvation in life, worship, and speech.
