Family Ministry
Family. The word has taken on new meanings in our
society. Some changes have been good. Although God set up the
first family with Adam and Eve and their children Cain, Abel,
Seth and then others, societal changes have impacted the definition
of family. God also refers to His church as the "family of God".
In fact, for many of the Fellowship, FOC is more of a family than
their "kin folks"!
Today, the definition of family is currently under
siege with increased vigor. In biblical terms, a legitimate family
unit is a married couple, a single person, a two-parent family,
a blended family or a single-parent family. However, as society
seeks to redefine marriage, it has already redefined family to
include unmarried couples living together, unwed parents with
children and those wishing to co-habitate as a group (aka communes).
At the Fellowship of Christ, we hope to encourage
the family to remain strong - to remain biblical - to remain focused
on God's original purposes. We hope to help your family set the
foundation of the Scriptures at the base of your family. We desire
to encourage you to be a biblical member of your family, fulfilling
your God-given roll. We purpose to train parents to rear the next
generation of parents with an improved sense of how the Bible
applies to family life.
Here is how the FAMILY MINISTRY DIVISION looks at
the Fellowship.
PRESHOOL - Fellowship Preschool has programs designed for ages two through five. If you would like more information about Fellowship Preschool please contact Rebecca Rossi at 380-0533.
CHILDREN - the Children
Ministry of FOC, directed by Pastor Greg Fisher; ministry to children
from infants to grade 5; ministries include Sunday school, camps,
bible club and Children's Worship on Sunday mornings.
XLUth - the Youth
Ministry of FOC, directed by Kristen McLean; ministry to students
grade 6 - 12 and college students; ministries include Sunday school,
camps and retreats, weekly fellowship night, C.A.R.E. groups,
worship just for youth, service projects, outreaches and missions.
CAREER - this ministry currently has no leadership
but would love someone with a passion for the single young adult
(age 17 - 20's) who needs some mentoring and encouragement, as
well as some social outings to round out a busy life.
MARRIAGE ENRICHMENT - includes ministry to those
contemplating marriage, just married types and those who have
been married for longer than they can remember! We are needing
a director for this ministry, but currently, there is an effort
to do some marriage ministry through occasional seminars sponsored
jointly by the Care Ministry Division and Family Ministry Division.
FAMILY LIFE - for
the sake of simplicity, Family Life will generally minister to
those with children (or in the planning stage of having children)
whether naturally or through adoption. Family Life will focus
primarily on parenting issues and concerns with interdependency
on the Marriage Enrichment ministry to augment the parents relationship
to each other.
