Worship through Music
At the Fellowship of Christ, we encourage the expression of worship using many forms of the arts. One expression of worship is music.
An Overview
Though music is not the only means of worship, it has been an integral part of worship throughout history. Early music was primarily through vocal expression, then the harp or liar and a few other instruments. In the past 200 years, instruments have played a larger role in worship through music. There are many references in Scripture to the use of music in worship and praise. Here are a few...check them out: Acts 16:24-25, 1 Cor 14:15, Eph 5:18-20, Col 3:16, Heb 2:12, James 5:13. You can see that music propagated much ministry and acts of God.
One for emphasis: For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy. As it is written, "Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles, and sing to Your name." And again it is said, "Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people." And again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles and let all the peoples extol Him." And again Isaiah says, "The root of Jesse will come, even He who arises to rule the Gentiles; in Him will the Gentiles hope." May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believeing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
This Scripture opens the door for ALL to sing to His name. He is not the God of only one culture or race or nation. He is the God of all people and one day every tongue shall give praise to God.”
Let’s do it now!!
What joy it is each week for us to provide a place for you to worship Him in the way He leads you. There's no required formula for how we present music, however, the format is somewhat consistent each week during the Sunday services since we dismiss for classes about half way through. And, before people are dismissed to classes, there are certain components of worship, including testimonies, sharing His word, prayer, communion, and other elements of a service that we like to provide opportunity as the Spirit leads.
Music is facilitated each week by one of our three music team leaders: Stan Elder, Kristen McLean, or Mitchell Bowyer. Our desire is to provide our community an opportunity, through music, to freely worship the Creator of music. Having three different leaders has ;the benefit of providing a variety of styles and keeps the music fresh.
Opportunity to Serve
The leader organizes a team from a mong a group of those who believe they are called by God to assist the leaders through this expression of worship.
You may be one who plays an instrument or sings and has been asking God what to do with this gift. If you believe He is leading you to become a part of this group of servants, please communicate this to one of the leaders and he or she will likely invite you to a practice or two to let you get a feel for things. Please contact Mitchell Bowyer (Creative Arts Director) at mitchellbowyer@gmail.com" for more details.
