Forgiveness: What is it really? Do I NEED to “do it”? How do I sincerely get there?
Have these thoughts crossed your heart and mind? A few months ago, we hosted a one-night, panel discussion on forgiveness. At the time, an opportunity was presented for a class on forgiveness from the perspective of the healing modalities Isaiah 61 uses.
We will begin a two-week investigation of deeper insights on forgiveness with a roundtable discussion Sunday, March 24, 6:00p-8:00p, in the annex. How fitting it is that we discuss this at the beginning of Holy Week, the time we remember Jesus' supreme sacrifice for us to give us forgiveness! On Sunday, April 7, same time and place, we will delve into how the healing modalities that we use for Isaiah 61 prayer ministry approach forgiveness.
As prayer ministers, we pray with people who have issues to bring to the Lord. Forgiveness can be one of those issues. Some of the stories we tell ourselves make it hard.
- What they did was so horrible, I can’t forgive them.
- What I did was too horrible, God can’t forgive me, and I can’t forgive myself.
- He/she does not deserve my forgiveness, they are too evil.
- I've already done this, and it doesn't "stick" . . . now what?
We may “know” the scriptural thing to do but be unable to do it from our hearts. Speaking the words does not always mean a change in attitude. How does Immanuel work around those roadblocks? Come and discuss with us how that might happen through the different prayer modalities that we use. This will be a discussion time where you can bring your questions and concerns.
We don't have all the answers, but we know Who does. Please RSVP to let us know you are coming.
